Plot Your Course for Spring Adventures in Greenville

After a long winter, we’re sure the residents of The Jolly Roger are ready to set sail and embark on spring adventures in Greenville. Here are some of our favorites ports that you’ll want to add to your seasonal itinerary.

Explore the Tar River with Knee Deep Adventures

This outdoor excursion will definitely cure your cabin fever. You can set out on the river in a kayak, or try the stand-up paddleboards. Either way, you’ll have fun, get in a good workout, and de-stress in the fresh North Carolina air. Best of all, you’ll be supporting a female-owned, eco-friendly business that’s working hard to preserve the Tar River.

Play a Round of Disc Golf at The Meadow

With the arrival of spring comes the need to get outside and be active. You can do just that at this 18-hole disc golf course created and maintained by the Greenville Recreation & Parks Department and the Greenville Disc Golf Club. Bring your lunch and end or begin your game with a picnic at the adjacent Matthew Lewis Picnic Shelter.

Take Art Classes at Emerge

Express your creativity and develop new skills with the wide variety of art classes being offered this spring at the Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge. They have an extensive variety of pottery and clay classes, as well as jewelry-making, metalsmithing, and painting. They also feature an assortment of virtual classes that you can take without leaving the comfort of The Jolly Roger.

Get in Spring Shape at the Greenville Greenways

Who says getting back in shape can’t be fun? Walk, jog, or bike the 5 miles of trail that winds through beautiful natural areas of Greenville. It’s currently on its latest round of expansion, the South Tar River Greenway Extension, which will follow the southern bank of the Tar River when it’s completed later this year.

Sing Karaoke at Molly’s Community Café

If you always dreamed of auditioning for American Idol, this is the spring adventure for you. This restaurant hosts all kinds of fun events, from live music to open mic nights. The karaoke events are a customer favorite. And when you’re done singing your heart out, reward yourself with a Carolina Burger or Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Follow their Facebook page to keep notified of their event schedule.

Spring has arrived at The Jolly Roger. Weigh anchor and have fun – either out on the town or at home between classes at East Carolina University, Pitt Community College, or Shaw University!
